Full title: "XII Sonatas of Three Parts for two Violins and a Bass with a Though Bass for Ye Organ Harpsicord or Arch Lute; Engraved from Ye Score and Carefully Corrected by ye Best Italian Masters." Opera Prima, Secunda, Terza, & Quarta. Violoncello/Violone O Cimbalo. There is no printed date for the publisher, the British Library Catalogue shows estimated dates of between 1730 and 1760 for what appear to be similar publications. " Printed for I Walsh service to His Majesty at ye Harp & Hoboy in Katherine Street near Somrset House in ye Strand and I Hare at the Golden Viol in St Paul's Church yard and at his Shop in Freemason's yard near ye Royal Exchange." On inside of front cover is handwritten "George Knowles, Matlock Bank, 1810" and a pasted bookplate with the same name and a date of 1818. This volume consists of 4 separately paginated and published works each of twelve sonatas with their own title-page, ie a total of forty-eight sonatas. These are the 'cello parts only of these works. These have been bound together in a near contemporary binding. Operas Secunda and Quarta include notation for a figured bass Well worn leather spine, boards with remnants of marbled pasted paper covering, binding is intact and sound but paper over internal hinges is split. Title-page to Opera Prima is cropped at the top. Some pages are a little darkened with occasional smudges but the score is clear throughout, the scores are almost free from hand-written notation with just an occasional hand-written term. Estimated date only, from British Library Catalogue showing a publication of Opera Quinza with an estimated dated of c. 1795. This volume is a collection of four works each of 12 sonatas by Corelli and are the first violin parts only. The first two operas are printed by H Wright and each have a title-page; Opera Terza and 4 (III and IV) are in manuscript form and are without title-pages. The binding is near contemporary with marbled boards and a vellum spine and corners, front cover has a printed pasted label "Violino Primo". On the inside of the front cover is a pasted bookplate for "George Knowles, Matlock. 1818". First title-page is darkened with small areas of surface loss, short tears at edges and creasing at the lower gutter. The score is clean and clear and without annotation. Manuscript score is clean, neat and legible. Covers are lightly rubbed and a little darkened, cover edges are worn, binding is sound. Item Type: Sheet Music. No dust jacket, as published.
